She had been throwing some pretty wild pitches while warming up, and nothing had hit the glove for about 6 or 8 pitches - everything was going about 3 feet over my head. I recall hearing her talking to herself about modifying something she was doing in her release, and the next thing I knew I was staring at a softball coming at me at about 50mph. I was so not expecting it that I didn't even raise my glove to stop it. I still remember being shocked that it was coming at me the way it was. Next thing I knew, I was on my back.

This is the extent of my injuries, as I was wearing my glasses at the time it happened. I'm convinced that if I hadn't been wearing them, I'd have a shiner the likes of which my face has never known. My glasses are intact, but they flew off my face and landed about 5 feet away. They were all bent out of shape, and they have a scratch on the lens, but nothing serious.

This right here is why I never played softball.
