018/365: Gehry
I have been a fan of Frank Gehry forever. He's designed some pretty amazing buildings, including one in my fair city. When I saw that he was designing jewelry for Tiffany & Co., I almost peed in my pants I was so excited. Obviously, I was never going to be able to afford to have my dream house designed by him, but this made his work available to the likes of me on a scale that I could deal with.
I had a hard time deciding which of the fish objects I wanted. I really liked the rings, but when I tried them on, even the single fish was a little ungainly on my big old hands. The bracelet is awesome, but I'm so not a bracelet girl.
I finally settled on this. It's the fish that I love, in a format that is significant. I wore it for the first time today, because it just arrived after having the chain lengthened - 16" is just way too short.
The girls read this meaning into it: The two fish represent the two of them. They are nestled together and getting along, which makes mom happy. Kierstin was not thrilled with the idea of having to smell Madison's feet forever while hanging around my neck, but informed me that she'll "get over it".
I'm so ok with that explanation.
